Ghana Premier League (GPL) side FC AshantiGold has terminated the contract of head coach and technical director, Abdul Karim Zito ‘following a consultative meeting by the Interim Management Committee on Monday October 26, 2026’.

An official statement by the Miners also indicated that decision involves the dismissal of other two technical staff; Assistant Coach Ernest Okyere and Goalkeepers' trainer Coach Robert Dabuo.

Zito joined AshantiGold in February 2026 following a difficult spell at Kotoko.

His departure comes just months after playing a major role in guiding the Obuasi based side’s return to the nation’s top-flight Ghana Premier League.

The former Dreams FC and Asante Kotoko coach played 8 league games this season, winning 3 games, with 3 loses and 2 draws.

FC AshantiGold however, announced the naming of a caretaker Coach to ‘steer the affairs of the team until the appointment of a substantive Coach / technical director’, the statement read.

The club expressed gratitude to the affected technical members for their contributions and service, wishing them success in their subsequent endeavours.

Zito guided the Miners to a 1-1 stalemate against rivals Asante Kotoko in last Sunday’s GPL matchday 8 encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
