Kumawood actor Kwaku Gyamfi, from Asante Agona, has accused his niece and her husband of allegedly defrauding him of GH¢42,000 under the promise of helping him travel to Canada.
Speaking on Ahenfie Nkommo, hosted by Oheneni Adazoa, Kwaku Gyamfi said he met his niece at a market after she had reportedly returned from Canada.
He said he told her about his desire to travel to Canada, and she assured him that she could help him with the process.
According to him, he subsequently gave his niece GH¢42,000.00 (FORTY-TWO THOUSAND CEDIS) which she allegedly handed over to an immigration lawyer to process his travel documents.
However, Kwaku Gyamfi said he later examined the documents and discovered that the entire arrangement appeared to be fraudulent. He therefore demanded a refund of his money.
In her response, the niece denied intentionally defrauding her uncle, explaining that she was only trying to help him travel and did not know the process was fraudulent.
She later agreed to refund the money but asked her uncle to return home so the matter could be settled.
Oheneni Adazoa, however, maintained that Kwaku Gyamfi had been deceived and insisted that the money must be refunded.
The host subsequently called for police intervention to ensure that the matter was resolved and the GH¢42,000 returned to Kwaku Gyamfi.
