Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has decorated 22 senior police officers following their promotion from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP).

Among the newly promoted officers are Kofi Sarpong and Gifty Serwaa.

At a ceremony to decorate the officers, IGP Yohuno expressed appreciation to the President for approving their elevation and urged the new DCOPs to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He charged them to uphold professionalism, integrity and commitment as they assume their new responsibilities, while intensifying efforts to combat crime and protect lives and property.

The IGP also called on the newly promoted officers to strengthen their contribution to public safety and work to reduce crime across the country.

With the Christmas and New Year festivities approaching, Mr. Yohuno assured the public that the Ghana Police Service would strengthen security measures to protect citizens and residents from criminal attacks during the festive period.

Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, the new DCOPs expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence placed in them.

They pledged to discharge their duties with dedication, professionalism and dignity, while contributing to efforts to fight crime and safeguard the public.

The latest promotions form part of a series of personnel changes within the Ghana Police Service in 2026.

In August, 25 officers were promoted in connection with anti-robbery and anti-narcotics operations, while 17 officers were promoted in January in recognition of operational performance.

In February, more than 12,800 officers across the lower ranks were also cleared for promotion.

The Police Service says the promotions are aimed at strengthening leadership, improving operational effectiveness and enhancing public safety across the country.
